I could not be more thankful to Ashley and the support she provided my husband and I before/during/after the birth of our daughter. Leading up to the birth, as first time parents, we had many questions and lots of unknowns. Ashley made us feel well informed, confident, safe, and excited for the journey.

The support that Ashley provided us both during the birth is something I will forever appreciate. She arrived with such a calming, supportive presence- dimming the lights, putting out candles, music, massage and the tens machine (amazing). I was having a lot of painful back labor and she helped me through the breathing and pain.

I felt heard, supported, and safe with her with us during such an overwhelming and vulnerable time. Having Ashley be our Doula is one of the best decisions I have made. Thank you Ashley, you are an amazing human and professional and we hope to have you with us again in the future should we add to our family.

Ashley is the warmest, most comforting presence. She was able to support me in my journey with my daughter with comfort measures and words of affirmation. She arrived, made sure I was ok mentally and physically and then did the same for my husband. She was ready with soft music, lights, and a positive attitude.

I cannot thank Ashley enough for what she did for my husband and I during that time. I tell everyone, I want to have more babies JUST so I can have Ashley as my doula again. I should add that's coming from a birth doula herself! Don't think twice about hiring a doula, don't think twice about hiring Ashley as that doula. She is amazing, to say the least.

Ashley was everything I needed in a doula! She was so attentive and knowledgeable with coping mechanisms for the discomfort in birth. She helped me with so much so I could achieve the med free birth I dreamed of!

We are now expecting again this December 2022 and I called her immediately when I found out I was pregnant the second time. I couldn’t imagine delivering a baby without her by my side and my husband was also, so grateful to have her there aswell!

Words cannot describe, how pleased my wife and I are with Ashley. I do not know how couples are able to go through the process of child birth without some sort of support. Ours came highly recommended from friends, who had Ashley apart of their birth journey.

Ashley wasn't my " original doula ". But she turned out to be an amazing back up!

Long story short, my doula unfortunately got sick around the time of my birth. She had then reached out to Ashley to see if she could be present for my birth.

My plan was to home birth but due to unforeseen circumstances I was sent to hospital. Ashley came on extremely short notice, with all the supplies and then some! She cared for me with positive affirmations, created a calm environment with candle lights, played relaxing music, held my hand and assured me that each contraction brought me that much closer to my baby, applied massage, and hooked me up to her tens machine that did wonders for distraction.

A wonderful, uplifting person to have by my side in the most vulnerable moments of life. Also, she later visited us in hospital to make sure baby and I were doing well. Not to mention she still checks in with me months later.

Would definitely recommend her as a support person, so thankful we had her on our team.

Having a doula at my birth was one of the best decisions I had made during my pregnancy. Especially since anyone I had talked to only had positive things to say about their experience.

As this was our first baby, my husband and I were nervous and not sure what to expect. Ashely was knowledgable and very helpful every step of the way. She was always available for any questions we had, at any time of day or night.

The day prior to going into labor my husband tested positive for COVID so he was not able to be in the delivery room with me. Having Ashley there with me eased my nerves knowing that there was at least one friendly face with me. Ashley helped me manage my pain throughout my entire labor and delivery.

Ashley was incredible! She stepped in right at the end of my fourth pregnancy and didn’t skip a beat. We were able to meet twice before the birth and easily built a relationship. She took the time to really understand what we wanted for the birth and any fears I had leading up to it.

My birth ended up going really quickly and she was able to help me stay calm and focused. Her calming presence and knowledge of many different labour techniques would help any woman during their birthing time. She is very calm and present when she’s with you.

We worked with Ashley both before and after the birth of our son and found her to be tremendously helpful. She was very responsive prenatally and helped us feel less fearful and more prepared.

Ashley was so great to have in the postpartum period and helped me with whatever I needed most each visit, from supporting me with breast feeding to cuddly my baby while I showered to folding my laundry.

My husband was hesitant to hire a doula at first. He thought that a doula would take over as the sole support person during labour. After talking with Ashley, my husband was reassured that she is the support system for both the mother and the father, and she is not there to replace anyone. Throughout my pregnancy, Ashley was available to answer any questions I had and to share evidence-based resources with me.

As soon as I walked into my first meeting, I felt a sense of calm. A calm and loving energy which is exactly what I had envisioned for my birth. When my water broke really early in the morning, my instinct was to reach out to Ashley first.

That initial reaction is evidence of how much of a trusted relationship we were able to build during my pregnancy. Ashley reassured me of what to expect when I got to the hospital. She calmed me down and kept in constant contact with me until I wanted her to join us at the hospital.

My labour was painful, but Ashley helped me remain grounded and stick to my birth plan. Her pain management techniques were a lifesaver and I was able to keep pain medication to a very minimum. After our little one was born, Ashley assisted during my golden hour with latching.

I really do not think we would have the same birth story if we had not hired Ashley to assist with our birth. I cannot put into words how grateful we are.

And now, my husband (the one who did not want to hire a doula) has decided to hire Ashley as a postpartum doula!

We were encouraged to seek the support of a doula when our Midwife clinic closed. We were able to access an amazing amount of funding through The Doulas for Aboriginal Families Grant Program. Originally, I was a little skeptical of needing any help. I had absolutely no birth plan and was quite confused about what I truly needed. I had two consolations which helped ease my mind and confusion. Ashley helped answer all our questions and helped both of us realize that having extra help and support was what we needed.

I originally did not know I was in labour, and felt silly calling Ashley at 2 in the morning. Ashley was there for me right away, coaching me via the phone and confirming I was in labour.

We made a plan, and Ashley came over first thing in the morning to help us. Ashley knew so many techniques and tricks to ease the discomfort I had. Things progressed very very fast for me, and Ashley was there with her calming voice through it all. Not only did she help soothe and comfort me, she was also there for my partner as well. Ashley helped us after delivery, while also giving us the perfect amount of space.

With our funding, we also have Ashley’s help postpartum. I’m very thankful for her, and often joke Ashley saved my life on the day I gave birth. I have zero regrets seeking out a doula. I hope more families can also benefit from The Doulas for Aboriginal Families Grant Program.

This week marked our last visit with Ashley, our postpartum Doula. Words cannot express how much gratitude I have for her help through some of the hardest days. When I was pregnant, I came across the idea that so many mamas pour all their energy into the pregnancy and preparing for the birth and not enough into what comes after. Especially care for not only the baby but the MOM. I figured that having a baby during a pandemic, away from most of our friends and family would be challenging, and it sure has been. And, so, arranging Ashley’s support was one of the best things we did

She met with us when I was pregnant and gave me ideas on how to prepare for postpartum. She came and sat on our bed, three days after birth, and cup-fed Bowie so we could take a break after hours of feeding challenges. She showed me countless ways to improve breastfeeding when Bowie was struggling in the early tongue-tie days.

She cut holes in my old bras so I could pump hands-free. She got me out of the house for my first baby-wearing walk with Bowie. She listened to me process my birth story and the loss that came before it with compassion and empathy.

She cooked.

She cleaned.

She held Bowie while he slept.

She checked in with ME always and made sure I was doing okay. She shared resources and always reminded me of the importance of getting out to see other mom friends. She celebrated all the wins and reminded me of how far our little family had come each month.

She walked my dog, folded laundry and congratulated me on 7+ months of breastfeeding, and told me I should be proud. She always reassured us that whatever parenting woe we were going through was very hard and very normal. Over and over again.

Every family deserves the support of a Doula and I couldn’t recommend one enough. Not included are our other birth Doulas, Anna and Emilie! And I soooo regret not taking pics! But, you know, when I was in labour, I was distracted lol.
